New theater group debuts at HCAC
The Company, a new Bergen County professional theater group, will perform Neil Simon’s "Chapter Two" May 30 and 31, and June 1, 5, 6 and 7 at the Hackensack Cultural Arts Center, 39 Broadway in Hackensack.
Chapter Two is Simon’s semi-autobiographical comedy about a middle-aged writer who is trying to deal with life after his wife’s death. His brother Leo, a theatrical press agent and born matchmaker, is determined to help George get out of his emotional tailspin by setting him up on unwanted and unsuccessful dates.
Eventually, Leo comes up with Jennie Malone, and she actually turns out to be a winner. Unfortunately, George must struggle with contradictory impulses, on the one hand he would love to embrace a new life, but on the other hand he wants remain faithful to the memory of his deceased wife, whom he loved very much.
About The Company
The Company is a new Bergen County professional theater group. Chapter Two is directed by Louis Scarpati and stars Bergen County residents Andrea Prendamano, Nancy Malleo, and David Russo, as well as Brian Parks, of Essex County.
Tickets are $16 and can be purchased before the show at the Hackensack Cultural Arts Center Box Office or at the door. Discounts are available for seniors, students, and military personnel ($14) and groups of 10 or more ($12).
