Angelina Vasile

Angelina (nee Agosta) Vasile, 79, of Washington Township, died Thursday, April 10.

Before retiring, Angelina had worked for Sears and Roebuck Co. for more than 30 years and was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Hackensack.

Beloved wife of the late Anthony. dear sister of Joseph Agosta, Frances Melillo, Jennie McKenna, Sadie Tamburine and predeceased by Concetta Rosa, Lena Toriello, Peter Agosta and Josephine Cavaliere.

Funeral mass took place at St. Francis of Assisi RC Church in Hackensack. Entombment followed in Garden of Memories, Washington Township.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Angelina may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601.

Theodore Lash

Theodore Lash, 94, of Ridgefield, Conn. and formerly of Hackensack, died on April 13.

Beloved husband for over 66 years of the late Martha Sugar Lash. Devoted father of Jeffrey and Sandy Lash and Melinda and Donald Weber (Ridgefield, Conn.). Loving grandfather to Jennifer and Laurence Bailen, Emily Weber, Juliet and Alan Hope, Andrew Lash, Brenda and Gene DeRose, and Janie and William Corrin. Cherished great grandfather of Maya, Wila, Tessa, George, Daniel, Lily, Molly, Annabelle and August. Ted was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and immigrated to the United States at the age of two with his family and lived in Paterson, NJ.

Graveside services were conducted at Cedar Park Cemetery in Emerson.

William Atkins

William "Sonny" Atkins, of Hackensack, died on April 12.

Beloved husband of Mary Atkins; dear father to William "Billy" Atkins, Beverly Mitchell, Donna Atkins, Judy Bush and Lori Richardson; brother to Olivia Atkins; special cousin to Harvey Young. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter Debra MacDonald.

Funeral services were held at Trinity Baptist Church, 218 Passaic St. in Hackensack followed by interment at New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. Arrangements by Earl I. Jones Funeral Home, Hackensack.

 

Pamela (nee Guthrie) Lathan, 56, of Cliffside Park and formerly of Hackensack, died on Friday, April 11.

Arrangements by McCorry Brothers, Cliffside Park.

Joseph A. Nardozza

Joseph A. Nardozza, 86, of Maywood, died on Sunday, April 13.

Before retiring in 1984 he was a custodial engineer for the Upper Saddle River Board of Education and was a co-owner of Kleen-Rite Cleaners in Hackensack for 23 years. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, receiving a Bronze Star, a member of the VFW Lodge #6467 of Bergenfield, a member of the Golden Age Club of Maywood and a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church Maywood.

Beloved husband of Carmela D. (nee Sgro) for 50 years. Devoted father of Joanne Kapinus of Maywood, Gary Nardozza of Maywood and Joseph Nardozza Jr. and his wife Terri of Maywood. Loving grandfather of Jonathan, Kolby, Jill, Cosmo and Briana. Dearest brother of Michael Nardozza of Maywood and Mary Olszewski of Hackensack. Joseph is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union St. in Hackensack. Mass of Christian burial followed at Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church in Maywood. Entombment was at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Washington Township.

Thomas G. Zahn

Thomas G. "Hook" Zahn, 70, of Hackensack, died on Monday, April 14.

Before retiring, he was firefighter in North Bergen for more than 30 years. He was a Marine Corps Veteran, a member of the American Legion and a member of the I.A.F.F. of North Bergen.

Beloved husband for 34 years of the late Sandra L. (nee St. Cyr). Devoted father of JoAnne Zahn of Hackensack, Stephanie Zahn of Bogota, Richard Zahn of North Carolina and Thomas Zahn II of North. Bergen. Loving grandfather of Sarah, Thomas III, Heather and Heidi. Dearest brother of Joseph Zahn, Ruthann DiCorcia, Carolyn Skokandich, George Zahn and the late John Zahn and Frederick Zahn. Thomas is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union St. in Hackensack. Cremation followed at Cedar Lawn Crematory.

Edith F. Capozzi

Edith F. (nee Pescatore) Capozzi, 84, of Hackensack, died on Sunday, April 13.

Prior to retiring she was employed as a sales person for Victors Jewelers for more than 10 years and the Plaid Stamps Redemption Center, both of Hackensack. She was a former member of the Hackensack Junior Women's Club, Fairmount School P.T.A. and Hackensack Moose Lodge, and a parishioner of Holy Trinity R.C. Church in Hackensack.

Beloved wife of Charles J. Capozzi for more than 65 years. Devoted and loving mother to Charles M. Capozzi and his wife Carmen of Hackensack and Debra Capozzi and her husband Peter Romano. Cherished grandmother of Charles and Michael. Dearest sister of the late Mary Cangialosi, Clara Yannetti, Josephine Gentile, Fay Maglio, Carmine Pescatore and George Pescatore. Dearest sister-in-law of Irene Peragine of McAfee, NJ, Vincent Capozzi of Indiana and Rocco Capozzi of Florida. Godmother to Lois Conklin, Vincent Maglio, Jr., and Richard Capozzi. Edith is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held by the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union St. Hackensack. Mass of Christian burial took place at Holy Trinity R.C. Church in Hackensack followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in Hackensack.

Immaculate Pederson

Immaculate (nee Cataldi) Pederson, 95, of Wood-Ridge and formerly of Hackensack, died Wednesday, April 16.

Mrs. Pedersen was predeceased by her husband Wilfred Pedersen, three sisters; Rose DeSantis, Mary Amoruso and Philomena LaSalce and three brothers; Joseph cataldi, John Cataldi & Matthew Cataldi. She is survived by her son Kenneth Link, her daughter Joan McKenna and her sister Theresa Ribitzki. She is also survived by five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Interment George Washington Memorial Park.

Bernice M. Rice-Scherrer

Bernice M. (nee Marron) Rice-Scherrer, 87, of Pennsylvania and formerly of Hackensack, died on Sunday, April 13.

Before retiring, she was an elementary school teacher at Fairmount School in Hackensack.

Beloved wife of A. James Scherrer for 11 years and the late Russell G. Rice Sr. for 56 years. Devoted mother of Russell G. Rice Jr. and his wife Donna of Penn., Carol Anne Cinque and her husband Robert of WA, James D. Rice of Texas, Charles I. Rice and his wife Marcie of CA, Robert C. Rice and his wife Lori of Rochelle Park. Cherished grandmother of Tammy, Russell III, Sarah, Laura, Beth, Ryan, Katherine, Michael, Mark and Carly. Great Grandmother of Olivia, Ella, Summer, Allyson, Ty, Alexander, Emma and Steven. Dearest sister of Catherine Bartels of Oradell and the late Joan Pelligrini.

The funeral service was held at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union St. in Hackensack. Entombment followed at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Township of Washington.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bernice's memory to the Fairmount School Project Playground, 105 Grand Ave., Hackensack, NJ 07601.

Edward Vazquez

Edward Vazquez, 54, of Hackensack, died on April 15.

Born in Cuba, Edward came to the United States in 1960. He owned Edward Vazquez Inc. in Wharton.

Loving husband of Denise (nee Trobiano) Vazquez. Devoted father of Edward A. Vazquez of Manhattan. Cherished son of Eduardo of Fla. and the late Nely Perez. Dear brother of Victor Vazquez of Hackensack, Bobby Vazquez of Michigan, Raymond Vazquez of Colorado, Maria Perez of Florida and Adrian Jimenez of Williamstown.

Funeral service was held at Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights.
